Brief Profile of Hon. Bill Twehway
The Director General Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) Hon. Bill Twehway was born unto the union of Chief Genwhen Twehway and Mother Blay-deh Vah Twehway in Central C, Rivercess County, Republic of Liberia. He is a Christian and married with five living children (all girls). Education: Hon. Twehway obtained his education both in Liberia and abroad. While in Liberia, he earned his High School Certificate and diploma in 1986 from the St Peter Claver’s Catholic High School in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. In 1999, he got his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with emphasis in English and Political Science from the William VS Tubman Teachers College, University of Liberia. In that same year, he got a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from California State University, Sacramento, USA. In 2007, the Honorable obtained a Certificate in Comparative studies Of African/Chinese Education Systems from Jilin University, Chang Chung, Peoples Republic of China. Based on his deep thirst for education, Hon, Twehway travelled to the United States of America where he got his M.Ed in Education Management and Supervision from Strayer University, Maryland, USA in 2009. He also holds a Certificate in Strategic Choices for Education Reform, From the World Bank Institute, Washington DC, United States of America. Working Experience: Hon. Twehway is a dedicated professional with strong integrity who has served his country in different capacities, ranging from Nongovernmental Organizations (NGO) employee, classroom teacher and government official. From 1987 to 2005, he served as teacher and Administrator in the Catholic school system, Archdiocese of Monrovia. From 1990 to 1991, Honorable Bill Twehway served as coordinator, Catholic Relief Services, District #3, Grand Bassa County. The Honorable then enter national government in 2006. While in national government, he served as Special Assistant/Assistant Minister, Ministry of Education (MOE), Republic of Liberia from 2006 to 2007. Thereafter, he was appointed by Her Excellency Madam Ellen Johnson Sirlaef to serve as Assistant Minister for Curriculum Development and Textbooks Research MOE, Republic of Liberia from 2009 to 2011, a position he held until his election at the 2011 poll as Representative, District #3, Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia. While at the national Legislature, he chaired the House Committee on Education from 2012 to 2015. He also Co-Chaired the House Committee on Rules Orders and Administration, and served as member of the Board of Trustees, University of Liberia.
