(Monrovia, Liberia), January 9, 2020: Liberians who recently graduated from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 held discussion with the Director General of LIPA Professor Alex Yonly.
According to the head of the team, Michael Dennis, they decided to meet the LIPA Director General to thank him for the support given them while they were pursuing their Masters in Public Sector Management at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
He said, though there were some challenges faced by them along the way, but they became successful at the end with the support given them from Professor Alex Yonly as Director General of LIPA.
He noted that the Director Yonly did not only play the role as head of the Institute, but also as father for those Liberians that were studying at GIMPA.
Following their interaction with Professor Alex Yonly, the team also used the occasion to gown him for his meaningful role played during their studies in Ghana.
Responding, LIPA’s Director General Prof. Alex Yonly welcome the Liberian students back to their mother land, saying that though ‘it was challenging going through one year of intensive studies in Public Sector Management at GIMPA, but at the end all of the students came out successfully.’
"The thing is, we have our own state agenda which is the PAPD and if you look at the PAPD talking about prosperity and good governance, economic power to the people, that puts LIPA in each of those pillars so by you learning and coming back home having all those expertise and skills, I think it is the right way that we can all collaboratively work in terms of building a capable state,” he encouraged the students.
He further assured the students that LIPA looks forward to working with them regardless of their areas of work, adding that his office will always remain open to the students to address their concerns.
Those forming part of the team that met with the Director General include: Michael J. Dennis head, of the Liberian students’ delegation to Ghana, who also represents the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC).  Other members of the team are Benedict Tokpa Danuweli, President of the Liberian students also representing the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Rufus G. Stevens from National Housing Authority (NHA) and Dempster Togba, LIPA’s representative.
