Latest News »  LIPA Orientates Participants For Third Quarter Training Cycle
The Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) on Friday, October 4, 2019 held a formal orientation for Participants of the 2019 Second Semester Third Quarter Training.
The program held at LIPA in the Procurement building brought together over 200 Participants from both the Public and Private Sectors.
Making remarks at the orientation program, LIPA's Deputy Director General For Training and Development Hon. Amara Kamara firstly welcomed the Participants at the formal orientation program of the 2019 Second Semester Third Quarter Training Cycle, saying that the program was intended to introduce the participants to the learning environment at LIPA.
Hon. Kamara told them (participants) that the courses offered at LIPA are basically professional based training courses, adding that any one enrolling into the program must have an understanding of the discipline he or she wants to pursue.
He explained that the reason for this is basically for LIPA to enhance capacity of professionals where there is a gap.
He however encouraged the participants to go into areas closely related to their first degree to avoid them having difficulty during the time of study.
“Facilitators may not come to start you from A, b, c and D, so if you went into a strange discipline area outside of your first degree, you will have to put in extra time and that is the only way you are going to get the actual results of the reason why you choose to go into that area,” he urged participants.
The Deputy Director General for Training and Man Power Development has meanwhile disclosed that the opening date for the 2019 Second Semester Third Quarter Training is November 4, 2019.
According to him, the reason for the extension is because most of the courses offered at LIPA did not meet the threshold of ten participants per class.
He said, with the interest expressed by most of the participants in purchasing the application forms, it is an indication that the number would have increased before the start of classes.
In closing, he encouraged the participants to take the issue of attendance serious, stating that it is one of the ways of grading.
For his part, the Director General of LIPA Professor Alex Yonly told the participants that in any organization or society the process of learning is very important.
He said, that PRO-POOR AGENDA FOR PROSPERITY AND DEVELOPMENT PLAN (PAPD) being initiated by this Government LIPA has taken the lead in terms of building a capable state with qualified and competent workforce.
He noted that the only way this can become a reality is by Liberians owning a skills and ability to be effective and efficient.
The Director General noted that an effective and efficient workforce goes a long way, adding that this is the major task for LIPA to implement.
He further said that one of the things they are involved with in recent days is to review the curriculum of the Institute in meeting up with the reality of current workforce development.
He noted that in the absent of this all of the learning theories that will be given in the class room, you may not be able to adequately apply those theories.
