Latest News »  LIPA Boss Discloses Plan To Train All Civil Servants
The Director General of the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA), Professor Alex Yonly has disclosed plans by LIPA, Governance Commission (GC) and the Civil Service Agency (CSA) as part of the Public Sector Reform within the tripod arrangement to conduct a comprehensive training for Civil Servants across Government.
Director Yonly made the revelation when he spoke at the Ministry of Information regular weekly Press Briefing on Thursday, October 3, 2019.
He said, the legislation of the training program will be mandatory for all Civil Servants wanting to serve in the public Sector to have certificates in administrative practices, stating that it will help to bring individuals desirous to serve in government, be it Central or local government on par with their counterparts around the globe.
"The need to strengthen our workforce and enhance managerial responsibilities cannot be over emphasized. This initiative creates Civil Servants capable of ensuring coherence, coordination and continuity within the Public Sector,” Professor Yonly stated.
The LIPA Director General further disclosed the establishment of a Civil Service mentorship Program which objectives he said will include providing a powerful non-formal training vehicle for enhancing human capital in service delivery and as well provide a value- added experience to enhance formal learning programs, noting that methods will be identified and a framework put in place for implementation.
In outlining his achievements so far, Director Yonly said since his appointment at LIPA, there has been lot of achievements, some of which he mentioned as organization realignment, Staff capacity development and cost containment measures among others.
"Our E-library Staff have been trained for updates and maintaining the E-learning Platform which supports our executive seminars (Leadership and Governance, conflict Resolution, organization Development, and strategic Human Resource Management,” he concluded.
