Latest News »  LIPA Launches First Public Lecture Series

The Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) as part of its Strategic Plan to organize focal group discussions on public policies and make recommendations to government on the ways forward as well as leading efforts towards institutional change has launched its first Public Lecture Series in Monrovia.

The Lecture Series named in honor of the Institute’s first Director General, the late Dr. Augustus F. Caine was held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the VIP Lounge of the Monrovia City Hall in Sinkor.

The event which will be held on the last Friday of every Month is intended to provide a space and platform where Public Policies, implementation strategies, successes, failures and challenges would be discussed under a civil atmosphere with the overall objective of achieving the following but not limited to; Access impacts of Public Policies, Access implementation strategies of Public policies, Create room and opportunities for independent thoughts on Public policies and projects, Discuss challenges, sources of challenges as well as successes of developmental projects and programs amongst others.

Making remarks during the launch of the lecture series, LIPA’s Director General Professor Alex Yonly  expressed gratitude to the Civil Service Agency for its continue collaboration in the Public Sector Reform program being initiated by the Liberian Government.

Professor Yonly noted that in an effort to build a cohesive Nation, LIPA also conducts study and review of developing situation and practices per the Social, Economic and Administrative development of organizations.

He further stated that over the years the Institute was able to extend its services to both the Public and Private Sectors through staff development programs.

DG Yonly further commended the Carter Center with support from the European Union for collaborating with LIPA to roll out the Access to Information Training currently taking place at the Institute.

The LIPA boss also extended thanks and appreciation to the Swedish Agency for Peace, Security and Development for partnering with LIPA to administer the Rule of Law in Public Administration.

He disclosed that LIPA will shortly introduce the Executive Training program through the Institute’s E-learning platform.

He said the launching of the Dr. Augustus F. Caine Lecture Series is one of the ambition projects that will help Public Administrators in various forms.

Also making remarks at the program, the Director General of the Civil Service Agency Hon. Laurie Johnson said it was an honor for her to serve as Co-Launcher of the occasion marking the Launch of the first in the series of public lectures of the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) in honor of the Institute’s first Director General Dr. Augustus F. Caine.

She said, the CSA is highly in support of the initiative being undertaken by LIPA, noting that the Civil Service Agency is charged with the responsibility of providing service through Human Resource Management across the Civil Service where management mechanisms and capacities are guarantee.

The CSA Director General has meanwhile encouraged Liberians especially staff of LIPA to take the monthly Lecture series seriously.

She noted that in order for LIPA to remain relevant and responsive the Institute needs to constantly adopt more programs to the changing needs of Government.
