Latest News »  ICDL Training Finally Begins At LIPA

The Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) has finally resumed training for the International Computer Driving License (ICDL).

The training which started on Monday, March 11, 2019 begun with a formal opening program that brought together members of the LIPA Senior Management Team, Participants and other staff of the Institute.

Making a brief presentation during the opening of the training, LIPA’s Regional Coordinator Mr. Jefferson Bates said, the idea of the ICDL was a concept that was developed in Europe in 1995 which has helped make business operations successful in that part of the world.

He said since the introduction of the program it has extended to over 100 countries, with about 24,000 users benefiting, including Liberia.

Speaking at the occasion, LIPA’s Deputy Director General for Training, Hon. Amara Kamara, urged participants to take the training serious.

He said LIPA was considering discussions with the Civil Service Agency (CSA) to integrate the program under the requirement of the Public Sector Modernization Project that will add more value to the sector.

For his part, the Director General of LIPA, Professor Alex Yonly, congratulated the participants for taking up their time to form part of the training, and encouraged them to attach importance to the training.

He said, “as you may be aware by this time, the ICDL is a global certification that helps you to make sure that your skills are up to date since it helps with that new dynamics amongst the workforce within various sectors”.

He further noted that times are changed, with technology advancements in workplaces, thus the importance for individuals to take advantage of the ICDL training which would play a pivotal role in terms of enhancing performance on the job.
