A four member-delegation of the Swedish Agency for Peace, Security and Development is in the country as guest of the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA).

In a brief discussion last Monday with LIPA Management, the head of the Swedish Rule of Law Program Maria Nystedt said, the team is in Liberia specifically to have a joint discussion with the Management of LIPA and plan activities for 2019.

She said, the discussion will pave the way to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between LIPA and the Swedish FBA on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

Also speaking, the Desk officer of the Swedish Rule of Law Program Dominique Gorska stated that a coaching session for participants will also be included for those who took part in the Training of Trainers (TOT) which was recently conducted by the Swedish FBA recently. Dominique further disclosed that the FBA team will shortly meet with management to look at areas of priority before the signing of the cooperative Agreement.

“Our organization in partnership with the National Security Council has concluded arrangement for the training of Superintendents across the country. LIPA and CSA are co-host for this training which takes place next April, 2019 in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County,” Dominique explained.

For his part, LIPA’s Acting Director General Hon. Amara Kamara told the FBA Delegation that in a recent meeting with FBA, LIPA already committed itself to partner with the Swedish organization in integrating the Rule of Law into its training program.

Director Kamara said LIPA being the government arm responsible for building the capacity of both private and Public Servants, believes training in all areas will help improve the performances of Liberians.

Meanwhile, the delegation which arrived in the country on Saturday, March 2, 2019 is also expected to hold discussions with other Ministries and Agencies including the Civil Service Agency (CSA) and the Governance Commission (GC).

Members of the delegation include: Maria Nystedt head of the Swedish Rule of Law Program, Emma Ostaker Project Director Rule of Law, Carl Norman Swedish Peace Archives and Dominique Gorska Desk officer for the Rule of Law.
