LIPA Conducts Leadership Training for Middle Level Managers

The Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) has begun a three week Leadership and Management training for middle level managers of key security institutions in the country.

Security institutions benefiting from the training include: the Liberia National Police (LNP), Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) and the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA).

The training which is sponsored by the United Nations Police (UNPOL) will among other things highlight applied leadership and advanced managerial skills needed for senior and middle level positions, and will run from January 9-27,2017

About one hundred Participants segmented into three groups are expected to be trained over the next three weeks. The Participants are drawn from the fifteen counties across the country.

Speaking during the opening of the training LIPA's Deputy Director General for Administration Mrs. Florence Dukuly admonished the Participants to make use of the training so as to impact the knowledge to others. Mrs. Dukuly told the Participants that a good leader is someone who is discipline and at the same time plays the role of a mother.

Also speaking, the Human Resource Advisor to UNPOL Rose Adamu thanked the Participants for forming part of the training. She said the training is an initiative of UNPOL as part of its strategic priorities to enhance leadership in the LNP, LIS and the LDEA.

For his part the Deputy Chief of Human Resource for Research and Statistics of the LNP Sando Johnson, on behalf of his institution, thanked the management of LIPA for accepting Law Enforcement officers of the three security entities to be trained in leadership and management. He expressed hope that the training will enhance their skills and knowledge as UNMIL gradually draws down its operations.
