LIPA Certificates 14 Budget and Planning Officers

The Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) recently certificated 14 Budget and Planning Officers from two spending entities in the country. Entities that benefited from the process include: The
Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) and the Legislative Budget Office of the National Legislature.

The Participants were awarded the certificates following a two week Medium-Term Expenditure Budgeting Curriculum Training of Trainers workshop held at LIPA from February 20-March 1, 2017.

Making remarks at the end of the training, the Deputy Minister for Budget and Development Planning at the MFDP, Tanneh Brunson said, the overarching objective of the training is to help address some of the challenges faced by the Public Sector.  She noted that because of these challenges the Government is finding it difficult to fully execute the MTEF Program.  She however assured the Participants of the Ministry’s commitment to empowering them in utilizing knowledge they have acquired from the training.

For his part, the Director General of LIPA, Oblayon B. Nyemah said his Institution is grateful to partner with the MFDP and the International Monitoring Funds (IMF) in providing training for Civil Servants.  Hon. Nyemah noted that the transformation of Liberia will require the building of the human capacity which he said is key to mending the transformation process.

Speaking on behalf of the participants the Assisting Director for Financial Sector Policy                                           at the MFDP, Mr. Henry Nyanquio said they are going to apply those skills and knowledge acquired during the training to impact the lives of other civil servants.  He is meanwhile called on the Government and other international partners to support capacity building in Liberia.
