Liberian Public Servants validate Curriculum and Modules for effective Performance Management System (PMS) Training

A one day curriculum and module validation workshop for Performance Management System Training across several Ministries, Agencies and Commissions of Government has ended in the country. The workshop was held on Tuesday October 27, 2015 at the Golden Gate Hotel in Paynesville. The event which is being funded by the Public Sector Modernization Project through the World Bank, USAID and SIDA brought together twenty three participants from seven participating Ministries, and three implementing Agencies and Commissions of Government. The Ministries and Agencies concern include:  The Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Ministry of Information Culture Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) and the Ministry Foreign Affairs (MFA). Other Agencies and Commission include: Civil Service Agency (CSA), the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) and the Governance Commission (GC).

 Speaking at the workshop, the Director General of the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) Honorable Oblayon B. Nyemah Sr. lauded the participants for their efforts in forming part of the Curriculum and Module validation process. Director General Nyemah told the participants that their inputs in the validation of the document was important, noting that it will help add value to the level of work already done by Curriculum developers at the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA).

The LIPA Boss expressed hope that at the end of the validation process, the must needed result will be achieved that will help in the modernization of the Public Sector. Director General Nyemah also used the occasion to appreciate donor partners including the World Bank, USAID and SIDA for their continuous support towards the initiative.

The instrument when validated will be used to train Civil Servants who are playing the role of Supervisors,HR Directors or Managers, HR officers and Assistant, and heads of departments and Units of the seven participating Ministries and three implementing Agencies and Commissions (MACs) under the Public Sector Modernization Project.

The objective of the training is to enable employees achieve the highest standards of work performance through knowledge and skills transfer to help them understand and apply the Performance Management System as a tool for efficient Public Service delivery.
